Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 1, 2026

Cumulative Budget (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the Cumulative Budget app and website (collectively, the “Service”).

1. Information We Collect

a) Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We use this to create and identify your account. We never receive or store your Google password.

b) Financial data you enter

We store the budget entries, accounts, goals, reminders, and other financial data you create within the app. This data is stored on our servers solely to provide sync across your devices and to power the AI assistant features.

c) Usage and device data

We may collect anonymous usage data (such as feature interactions and crash reports) to improve the Service. This data does not contain your financial information or personally identifiable details.

d) Subscription information

If you purchase a subscription through Google Play, we receive a purchase token from Google to verify your subscription status. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
  • To sync your budget data across all your devices.
  • To answer your financial questions through the AI assistant (your data is sent to the AI model only to generate a response and is not used to train the model).
  • To verify and manage your subscription status.
  • To send optional bill reminders and notifications you configure.
  • To improve and troubleshoot the Service.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers who help us operate the Service:

  • Google Sign-In — for authentication. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Play Billing — for subscription management. Payment data is handled by Google.
  • OpenAI — your budget data (without your name or email) is sent to OpenAI to generate AI assistant responses. OpenAI processes this data under their API data usage policy and does not use API data to train models by default.
  • Google AdSense — we display ads on the web version of the Service. Google may use cookies to show personalised ads. You can opt out via Google's ad settings.
  • Infrastructure providers — our servers are hosted on industry-standard cloud infrastructure with appropriate data protection measures.

We may also disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Cumulative Budget, our users, or the public.

4. Shared Accounts

If you choose to share a budget account with another user, that user will be able to see all entries, balances, and financial data within the shared account according to the permissions you grant (view-only or editor). You are responsible for choosing who you share your data with.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information and financial data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure credential storage, and access controls to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
  • Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format).

To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@cumulativebudget.com.

9. Cookies

The web version of the Service uses cookies for authentication (to keep you signed in) and, if you consent, for advertising via Google AdSense. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
